Both Code and Animal control services are carried out by a single person, titled as a Public Service Officer, who addresses safety and public health issues on a daily basis.
Animal Control, a division of the Police Department, responds to domestic animals, wildlife, and livestock issues that arise throughout the city. Their duties include investigating animal bites, lost pets, animals at large, and adoptions, housing/caring for stray animals. The City of Farmersville has a temporary animal shelter, a truck, and an Animal Control Officer who also has other duties. If impounded animals are not claimed within a 24 hour period the animals are then transferred to the Collin County Animal shelter.
Code Enforcement, also a division of the Police Department, assists the residents of our city in providing an optimum environment conducive to good health and aesthetically pleasing surroundings. The Code Enforcement Division enforces City Codes pertaining to property maintenance, some zoning issues, and vehicle nuisances.
