Patrol Services

Tahoe4The patrol division is the backbone of any police organization and generally, is the first point contact for most of citizens and visitors who either request or require police services. The entire department is made up of 9 Sworn and 4 Reserve officers whom all share patrol duties and/or assist where needed when called upon. The police department provides 24/7 police services, comprised of shifts, and the number of officer’s per shift are coordinated through patrol supervision. Patrol officers are responsible for answering calls for service, emergency response, and initial criminal investigations/reports. Patrol officers also conduct traffic enforcement; investigate traffic accidents; enforce city ordinance violations; and assist when needed with animal complaints. Police officer’s will serve in a variety of capacities, too many to list here, but in many cases, will serve to the best of their ability to provide needed services and/or will direct citizens and visitors to those who can.

Requesting Police Services

If you need a police officer and you have an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergency calls between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. please call 972-782-6141 or 972-782-6142. Please remember, after hours the department transfers the non-emergency lines to the Collin County Sheriff’s Department Communications Division which is a 24 hour operation. There may be on occasion, in which you’ll call during day business hours and either receive the Collin County Sheriff Office and/or City of Farmersville Administrative offices. The call-taker on either line can direct your call or request an on-duty police officer to respond to your location or call you.

Visitors to the police station:

The front police-lobby is open 24 hours a day. If an officer is not readily available just inside the lobby, a red phone is attached to the wall. You simply pick up the receiver and the phone will be answered by a Collin County Sheriff Department Dispatcher. At this point you can request a Farmersville Police officer to meet you at the police station. Please keep in mind that there may be a delay in response to the station depending on where the officer is located and/or if he/she is answering an emergency call for service.
