Farmers & Fleas Market
Farmers &
Fleas Market Three Years Strong On August 5, 2007 the Farmers & Fleas Market in downtown Farmersville celebrated its three-year anniversary, having begun its first market in August of 2004. “We planned the Market to draw folks into downtown Farmersville, as well as to give vendors an opportunity to market their items directly to the public,” says Mary McCrary, Market Committee Vice Chairman. The market is held the first Saturday of each month, with sales from 9 am to 4 pm, held both under the Onion Shed and in the adjacent city park. Vendors range from local organically grown produce and plants to crafts, collectibles, and garage sale items. Food vendors are a popular attraction as well. A survey conducted indicated that 64% of the respondents planned to also shop on the square, and 49% indicated that they were from out of town. Half of those from out of town indicated that it was their first time to visit Farmersville. “We're delighted to show off our downtown to new visitors, and know that they will want to return again,” said Adah Leah Wolf, Main Street Manager. An average of 40 vendors have participated each month, with November being the busiest month so far. Vendor spaces are $10 for a 15 x 15’ space in the field, $15 for a 10’ X 10’ space under the Onion Shed, and food spaces are $30. Potential vendors and Market volunteers may contact Farmersville Main Street office for more information, 972-784-6846.
