Our Mission

To serve the community as a resource for information and to act as a technology gateway to online resources. We encourage people of all ages to read for learning and recreation. We seek to provide a safe and comfortable environment that is conducive to the learning experience.

About Us

The Rike Memorial Library strives to enlighten and enrich the residents of Farmersville and the surrounding communities by providing services and resources needed for self-directed personal growth, satisfying leisure experiences, and cultural understanding. The library promotes literacy by providing materials for lifelong learning and the love of reading. Patrons have access to over 24,000 physical materials including books, audiobooks, reference materials, and videos. Additionally, there are more than 45,000 digital items available for download. Wi-Fi, public computers, fax, copying, and printing is available to the public. 

The library is open 40 hours per week (8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesdays & Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Wednesdays & Fridays; and 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., on Saturdays) and is staffed by 2 full-time employees. Library staff serve more than 6,700 patrons and facilitate all library activities and programs. 

Some of the programs and events held by the library include:

•    Holiday themed events throughout the year
•    Summer Reading Program in June and July

The library provides residents with a central source of information on a wide variety of subjects. We love our community and are here to serve them with a smile. Our goal is for residents to find the library as an inclusive space where they can meet and connect with other members of the community.
